The Best Hair Salon in Sunderland - Come and See for Yourself

It’s warm in the salon, there is a lot of noise and commotion. The hair dryers are blowing, people are chatting, the phone is ringing, and the radio is blaring.

I sit in my chair, trying not to look in the mirror where I can count the crow’s feet around my eyes and clearly see the bags forming.

I have my book in my lap.

I’ve been looking forward to a bit of me time. Just sitting in peace, me, and my book while I get pampered.

Once Upon a Time in a Field

A picture speaks a thousand words.

Behind every picture is a story.

Behind every story is a person who invested part of their soul into it.

Take this photograph for example, what do you see?

A cow, right?

Creating Compelling Copy: The Power of a Story

This document is for people who are intending to write a story to enhance a piece of copy. This is not a document about how to write a novel. There are plenty of other documents, books, eBooks, and websites that can help you with that.

The aim of this document is simply to help you structure a short story to be used within a piece of copy.

Copy is a piece of writing intending to persuade someone to do something.

Therefore, the story you tell should help the copy to achieve this goal of persuasion.

Is it cake? Or is it a crazy mess?

“Mummy can we bake a cake and make it look like a slipper to confuse Daddy? Like on ‘Is it Cake?”

These are the words that greeted me in the supermarket when my 6-year-old daughter came running up to me with handfuls of colourful cake icing.

Sales Success Starts with Building Relationships; Here’s How to do it Right.

For many people sales is a scary prospect. I know it was for me.

For the purpose of this post let’s create a fictional character to guide us through. His name is Bill.

Bill knows what he wants to do with his business. He sets clear goals and targets and makes sure he has the right skillset to offer his service. He sets everything up in the legal sense and is, for all intents and purposes, ready to go.

Am I Late for the Party Again?

I finally discover what I want to do with my life. I quit my job, spend time and money retraining and then AI takes over the world and copywriters are no longer needed. Brilliant!

What Will Your Headstone Say?

It’s a morbid question, but I think it is safe to say that no-one would write on their headstone “I wish I had worked harder,” or “If only I had put in more hours at work.”

I have spent some time thinking about my priorities and spending time with my family is definitely top of the list.

When I spoke with my Head Teacher at school about how I was feeling – overwhelmed with the workload – he told me he understood, but teachers don’t have a set number of working hours. We are expected to work until the job is done, which in teaching is never.

Writing Your First Article

Writing an article of your own without a brief from a client could be a daunting task. How do you know what to write about? How will you make it interesting for a reader to want to read on? The most important thing to remember is that whatever you are writing, it needs to be well-written. That means no grammatical mistakes, no spelling errors, and no missing punctuation.

The Mistake I Made with Social Media

How on earth can anyone make a mistake with social media? Even young children have social media accounts these days.

I am of an age where I remember what life was like before mobile phones.

I remember a world without the internet.

It was a simpler time. Back in the good old days!

From Here to There

So there I was, a primary school teacher looking for a way out of the profession.

I realised that copywriting is where I would find the best fit for my skills, so I started researching. What is a copywriter? What do they do? And most importantly, how do I become one?

Would a Teacher Make a Good Copywriter?

From the age of 3 I knew I wanted to be a Primary School Teacher. Everything I did was geared towards this as my dream job. My GCSE’s, A-Levels and university degree all led me down this path, the yellow brick road to my ultimate goal.

I loved teaching with all my being. It was everything, the be-all and end-all of who I was. And it’s a good thing too, because being a teacher requires just that. You have to give your life and sell your soul to the education system. There is no room for anything else.
