I have heard it said that  'affordable'  =  cheap and if it's cheap then it's of low quality.

 

My services are not cheap. But I also do not take advantage of businesses who need a little extra pizazz in their copy. 

 

Imagine I decide to make a vegetable soup. 

 

I use fresh organic vegetables. I peel them, chop them, boil them with a vegetable stock cube and blitz them in the blender to make the soup smooth. Then I add some cream, salt and pepper to taste and a sprinkle of parsley. 

 

The soup is fresh, home made, uses the highest quality ingredients, looks smooth and creamy and tastes delicious. 

 

A famous chef makes the exact same soup in the exact same way. He produces the exact same results. He charges £30 for a bowl of his soup. 

 

Is this reasonable? Is it fair? Or is he taking advantage of his name and status?

 

Could he charge £10 for his soup and still cover his costs and make a profit?

 

Expensive doesn't always  =  better. 

 

Now in the world of business - a large corporation or million dollar business may well prefer to eat in a restaurant where they charge £30 per bowl of soup.

 

But a business who is not reaching 6 or 7 figures every month, who doesn't have more than 50 employees, may find it more reasonable to eat a bowl of fresh, heart warming, high quality, delicious soup for a more reasonable price.

The Structure

 

Onboarding Call

We will begin with an onboarding call where we will discuss your business in depth. I need to know what your targets are and what you are doing to achieve them. 

 

Research

After the onboarding call, I will use the information collected to conduct some in depth research into your target audience and the products/services that you offer. I will also be researching your competitors and their offers. 

 

Strategic Plan Call

When the research is complete, we will create a strategic plan of content together (this can be refined and amended as time progresses). You are an integral part of this journey. It is your business, not mine, so you are at helm of every decision making process.

 

Delivery

Copy for emails, landing pages and social media will be written on Google docs and shared with you to apply to your email list and social media platforms.  

Please note, I will not accept login details for your platforms. I will provide the copy and a member of your team will ensure that it reaches the required destination - email funnels, social media sites and your website

 

Brochures and newsletters will be written in a word document or created with Canva (depending on requirements) and shared via email.  

Please note I am not a graphic designer. I am a copywriter. Graphics and photographs will be provided by you and your team or sourced externally. (I can help find someone if required).

 

You will receive this content at agreed dates and times each week/month, with time allowed for amendments that may be required.

Please note, I am writing copy which is completely original. I do not use AI tools and I do not 'borrow' writing from others (because that is plagiarism). Everything I write is unique to you. 

When I send in the first drafts you may find that you would like to discuss some word choices or phrasing. That is fine and well within your rights. I make sure there is time for these edits and redrafts.  

 

Weekly 1:1 Content Meeting

The weekly 1:1 meeting will last for no more than 60 minutes (unless otherwise stated). During this call we will discuss:

  • the upcoming content based on the strategic plan.
  • any company and client wins. 
  • any testimonials which can be utilised.
  • any changes that may need to be made to the plan based on changes in the market. 

The Outcome

Streamlined marketing strategy through (where required):

  • Social media plan and calendar for the duration of the project.
  • Email plan and calendar for the duration of the project.
  • All copy written for the agreed formats for the duration of the project.

Creating more time for you to focus on your business, converting the additional customers/clients attracted and acquired through the copywriting, therefore increasing income, revenue and sales in your business. 

 

Who is Cal Smith?

Born on the Isle of Man, I  now live in Sunderland, Northeast England, with my husband Trevor and 6 year old daughter. 

My husband and I set up our own business in September 2019. We were working with Primary Schools to promote physical activity for the children. This was an incredibly difficult when the schools closed in March 2020 due to covid-19. 

I have had my fair share of sleepless nights, worrying about what was going to happen with the business. My biggest worry was whether I would be able to pay the bills each month. We needed to promote our business, but we couldn't afford the fees required for the marketing materials. It was a catch 22. 

Having been a primary school teacher for 20 years I realized that I already had the transferable skills required to be able to write emails, create sales letters, talk to schools and create the content for our brochure. 

As a new business owner or if you own a small business, I want you to know that I have been where you are. I have felt the pressure of bringing in clients and not having the funds or budget for advertising. You have a tremendous quality offer in your service or product and  I can write the copy you need to be able to bring in the number of clients you deserve to grow your business 

Now I am a qualified copywriter having trained with the College of Media and Publishing and am utilizing my copywriting skill set along with my transferable skills from teaching to provide an excellent service to clients. 

One of my hobbies is writing children's books where whimsical characters retell some of the adventures (both real and imagined) of my travels. In this respect I have been writing in different forms for different audiences for many years. I also love to travel the world and explore new places and cultures. 

However, my biggest passion is Drama and theatre. As a drama specialist I have a lot of experience managing projects, directing and producing. shows with hundreds of children. 

Time management is also a key skill required for such a role, so if you need many projects produced at the same time, then I am the copywriter for you.
